The History of Amdecon

crime scene clean-up, hoarding cleaning, and meth lab cleanup

In the summer of 1999, Michael Tillman read an article in the Dallas Morning News about kind-hearted volunteers who took on the difficult task of cleaning up homicide, suicide, or human decomposition scenes so the affected families would not have to.

Like most people, Mr. Tillman had never really thought about what happens at one of these scenes after the body is removed and the authorities leave. He thought it was reprehensible that our society would leave these families with the gruesome task of cleaning up after one of these events, so he founded this company with one goal in mind – to help these families by forming a company that specialized in crime scene cleanup and which operated 24 hours a day every day of the year.

Between 1999 and 2004, the company continued to grow as we opened several branch offices in other parts of the country and our reputation as an industry leader continued to grow also.

The company has handled thousands of suicides, homicides, murder/suicides, unattended deaths, industrial fatalities and accidents, it has performed crime scene cleanup from California to New York.

Our clients included Fortune 500 companies, major railways, international airports, municipalities around the nation, thousands of families, and all major insurance carriers. But even as we continued our decontamination services we had people asking us how they could become CTS Decon biorecovery technicians or start their own company, and in 2004 we held our first training class open to the public.

In August of 2004 the company opened the world’s first crime scene cleanup training center and held the world’s first 5-day crime scene cleanup biorecovery technician training course. Now you can get crime scene cleanup, meth lab decon, and hoarding cleaning certification from Michael J. Tillman, one of the American Decontamination Industry’s founding fathers!

What started as Amdecon services has evolved into Amdecon training.

Not sure how to pronounce Amdecon? Just think of it as an acronym for American decontamination since we began as a decontamination service company in the United States.

This course was very successful and students from around the world came to learn from us and benefit from our years of experience, our OSHA credentials, and our successful business model.

But we still had people calling saying they wanted to be trained only by Mr. Tillman, but for various reasons couldn’t attend. They either couldn’t afford the expenses (air fare, hotel, rental car, eating out every night) and the class tuition, or they just could not take the time off to attend, but they had to be trained by Mr. Tillman as they believed he was the best trainer in the industry.

After realizing that for as many people as could come to our class there were hundreds who couldn’t, in 2007 Mr. Tillman created our distance learning certificate program via DVD training. This was the first time in the world’s history that a person could get certified in crime scene cleaning via distance learning.

Today we specialize in online crime scene cleaning, hoarder house cleanup, and meth lab cleanup training courses.

This is a very rewarding industry both emotionally and financially. Whether your motives are altruistic or merely financial everyone can benefit from our online certification programs. We are helping thousands of people improve their lives by teaching them how to own and run their own successful decontamination company. This has made a profound difference for many people who were devastated in the recent economic depression and needed to find other ways to support their families.

Mr. Tillman has retired from field work and is concentrating on training. He is now dedicating all of his efforts to training; it is time to pass the torch on to the next generation of crime scene cleanup workers. In just a few short years, he has grown the company from a one-man, field-work operation to a world-renowned training source, having trained over 4000 students in over 28 countries who are making an important difference to families and communities around the globe while making good money while doing it.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about us today, we look forward to working with you now and in the future to serve your training needs.
